I used to misplace the gadget but not its charger, so I had a collection of chargers I was afraid to throw away. Finally I lost track of the chargers, I’m sure they’re put away someplace safe…

Absolutely hysterical. BTW, the reason they have different plugs is they have different voltages. From Radio Shack, you can get a multi-voltage charger (there’s a setting) with an array of plugs.

Far from universal, it’s at least a start.

The USB thing is also working out in that our iphones and some other gadgets can now get power from the USB cable.

Susan – - I still haven’t figured out just what all those USB slots are for…I mean the computer manufacturers keep advertising more and more of ‘em (new Dell with 18 USB ports!!) but what in the heck are we supposed to plug in there???

You are a riot! Thanks a lot, I spewed coffee out my nose over this blog.

We there are four of us in our family too – I dare not count the chargers. But we have 5 laptops (1 is a Mac), and 5 desktops between us, some of which date back to Windows 98. And we have these USB hubs with 8 ports in addition to the two ports already on our laptops, and some of the USB gizmos actually have piggybacking USB ports so you can plug two things into the same port.

Nice picture. It’s so true about the chargers. What is it about relatives who feel free to always point out shifts in weight. Mine is the opposite problem, an aunt who always says, “ooh, you’re too skinny. Are you sick? Are you feeling ok?”

LOL, I have the same problem on a regular basis! At least “they” are wising up and making some things charge via USB now (phones, mp3 players, etc – you know, the *essentials*). At least that’s just one cable (or two if you have the two different types of USB)! I can’t keep up with that though, either…
